Why the lab exists
By 2023, frontier AI could produce remarkable output. But important organisations still needed someone to determine what was useful, ground it in real knowledge, connect it to actual work, build the surrounding product and remain responsible after launch.
Navigate already understood the other half of the problem: decades of business research, advisory work, operating experience and customer relationships had created deep knowledge that remained difficult to scale and too easy to lose between projects.
Navigate Agents was created to join those worlds—frontier AI with accumulated expertise, product engineering with operating reality, and speed with judgment.
An operator's perspective
Founder Joe Reed brought a career across sales leadership, general management, fintech, financial services, private equity, M&A and business building. Across Navigate's wider history, that experience spans operating and advising businesses across advisory, financial and professional-service environments.
That background shaped a practical standard for AI: help people understand more, prepare better, make stronger decisions and build durable operating capability.

How we got here
Navigate Agents began in 2023. Its judgment, relationships and research practice draw on a much longer Navigate lineage. Together, the dates show how decades of experience became a dedicated applied-AI institution.
The operating and relationship lineage behind the wider Navigate institution.
A durable practice of building knowledge around markets, businesses and important decisions.
A dedicated applied-AI lab created to turn a fast-moving technical frontier into useful operating capability.
The lab moved from internal research and development into its first public expression.
Research Houses, specialist products, AI-native applications and shared operating systems expanded through practical work.
Research, collaborative AI, institutional knowledge, private infrastructure and portfolio operation now work as one system.
How we work
The technical frontier moves quickly. Our way of working is designed to stay useful through that change.
The people doing, using and being affected by the work should shape what is researched, built and improved.
Models will keep changing. Better decisions, products, service and operating capability are the outcomes worth building for.
AI creates extraordinary capacity; accountable people define the boundaries, review consequential work and own judgment.
Deployment begins the learning cycle. We operate, evaluate, correct and improve rather than treating handoff as completion.
Our role inside Navigate
Navigate Agents builds the shared applied-AI capability used across Navigate. It works with Navigate Advisory Group, Navigate's projects and PortCos, Venture Partners and selected clients—each bringing different knowledge, users, constraints and routes to value.
Navigate Advisory Group contributes consultants, customer and business context, professional pathways and continuing relationships. Projects and PortCos provide focused environments in which research and products can become useful. Venture Partners and clients bring additional expertise, assets and important problems.
